New DS on the way?

Well, it’s been 3 and a half years since Nintendo released their latest handheld system, the DS.  It’s only been 2 years since they re-designed the DS and made the DS Lite. 18 million, that’s how many units of these 2 custody helds have been sold in North America. 27 million, that’s how many have been sold in Japan.

Some may be amazed, why have they sold so many? Well, and this is NOT an elitist thing to say, but there are people called “Nintendrones”. These people will buy a system, one of every color, collectors version, and more just so they can say they have it. Now, the term is used very broadly and is normally used in Message Board girlfriend wars, but the word pretty much sums up the people that assign their money on many things they already own.

The DS is a very popular handheld, so this conceivable rumor is not surprising in the least. Especially being that Nintendo has a transcribe of re-desiging many times such as Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy SP, and Game Boy Micro. It was fair-minded a matter of time until we saw a new design for the ever well-liked Nintendo DS.

But when? Well, the rumor mill expects it to be announced and in any way released come E3 2008, which is large when most big gaming headliners are revealed. So, we only have to intermission for approximatley 3 months to see if this truth, or if this is counterfeit.

With Nintendo’s record though, as stated before, I wouldn’t slumber on this rumor.
